Disability Resource Center: Parents
Welcome to Boise State University! For students with disabilities, transitioning from high school to college means new challenges. When entering post-secondary education, your student is considered an adult and s/he is therefore expected to assume full responsibility for obtaining accommodations and meeting course requirements.
When students with disabilities are in high school, it is often the parents who make sure that appropriate accommodations are in place. In college, it is the student who takes the initiative to make sure that specific needs are being met. Your student decides on everything from getting to class on time to completing homework.
At the Disability Resource Center, we provide access and facilitate independence. We hope this Parent's Guide will help you better understand our mission and your student's role and responsibilities while attending Boise State.
