Disability Services

What's New

For Spring 2009

***IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR  COLLEGE OF APPLIED TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS***

On July 1, 2009, the College of Applied Technology becomes part of the College of Western Idaho. If you will be continuing in your program after the transfer, you will become a CWI student and no longer receive your accommodations through the DRC.

Who will be overseeing disability services?

CWI has developed a position whose responsibilities include coordinating accommodations. Until that position has been filled, students should contact Terry Blom through the One Stop Services Center at 208-562-3000 or by e-mail at TerryBlom@cwidaho.cc

How do I get my file transferred to CWI?

Soon, you will be receiving an e-mail from the DRC. Attached to the e-mail will be a Release of Information. If you want the DRC to send your documentation and a copy of your most recent accommodation letter to CWI, you must sign, date, and return the Release of Information to the DRC. If you wish to pick up and deliver your information personally, you will need to bring a photo ID.

Please note that some providers/diagnosticians have specifically denied us permission to forward documentation to anyone--including the student. If your documentation has such restrictions, you will need to request that your provider forward documentation to CWI.

If my CWI classes are located on the Boise State campus, do I still use the DRC for accommodations?

No. CWI plans to have a One Stop Services Center at the Boise State campus--you should go there to see how you should set up accommodations at CWI.

Where's the paper schedule? Paper schedules are a thing of the past. You can access the Spring 2009 Class Schedule online. To find the current schedule, go the main Boise State webpage, select Current Students, scroll down to Course Schedules and Catalogs, click on Current Course Schedule. For those of you who really like paper, you can print as many or as few pages of the schedule as you would like.

Scheduling tests: If you and your professor have decided that you will take your tests in the DRC AND you have returned your Test Accommodation contract, you must schedule your tests online. The Test Scheduling form is on the DRC web site under the Forms section Test Scheduling. Regular tests must be scheduled at least 3 business days in advance. Finals must be scheduled at least two business weeks in prior to the first day of finals.

Finals already? Yep. You know when your finals are even before the semester starts. The final exam schedule is printed on page 15 of the Spring Course Schedule. Finals must be scheduled at least two business weeks in prior to the first day of finals.

BIG TIP: Take a few minutes at the beginning of the semester to schedule all your tests at once, including finals. That way you don't need to worry about remembering the scheduling deadlines.
