Event Planning FAQ

Hosting an event on campus? Accessibility is a top priority at all events on campus.

What does accessibility at an event mean?

An event that is accessible means that all participants, regardless of disability or not, have equal access to the event.

Do all events at Boise State need to be accessible?

Yes. Boise State complies with the Americans With Disability Ammendments Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Both of there laws state that Boise State may not discriminate against an individual with a disability.

When should our organization begin planning for accessibility?

Planning for accessibility should be one of the first steps in the event planning process. The organization will want to be sure that advertising as well as the actual event is accessible.

How do we know what kinds of accommodations might be needed at our event?

Include an accessibility statement in your advertising. The DRC suggests the following:

"Boise State University is committed to providing reasonable access to all University events and activities. To request accommodation for this event, contact (event coordinator) at (phone number) or by e-mail (e-mail address). To ensure that your needs are met, please contact us at least one week prior to the event.

What if I need help?

Feel free to contact the DRC with any questions, concerns, ideas you have. We are happy to assist you in making your event accessible to all!
